Mario de la Vega, MA
I have had a long interest in and passion for the psychology of behavior change. At every point in my career, I learned about the dynamics of change. As a filmmaker, I began my informal study of psychology, applying the principles of character change to narrative storytelling. Later, I was involved in the development of learning applications for new technologies that taught people how to cultivate emotional intelligence. And, as a corporate media executive, I lead change initiatives within organizations. My love of psychology and behavior change eventually led me to a mindfulness practice and the study of Buddhist philosophies on the nature of the mind. Included in Buddhism’s principle core teachings are that the only constant is change, and that mindfulness is what brings awareness to change. This spirit of change led to my decision to leave the corporate world and return to school to get my Master’s in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.
As a coach, I combine the teachings of mindfulness, psychology, and my experience as an executive, entrepreneur, parent, and partner to help people discover what really matters to them. I help identify the parts of people that tell them change is scary, the parts that are striving for change, and how how these parts can co-exist and move forward toward your goals.
